What To Do Before You Check-In to Your Vacation Rental

Shop at Coligny Plaza
Coligny Plaza is a great way for you to kick off your vacation. Walk around a variety of shops that are mostly local, small businesses. You can grab new outfits, bathing suits, or just a few essentials you forgot at home. It's also a great time to see what you can find to make your stay even more comfortable, like beach towels or beach chairs! Here you can also check out The Frozen Moo for Ice Cream!

Go to Adventure Cove for Mini Golf
Take the family to a fun outdoorsy mini golf adventure while waiting for your check in. Adventure Cove is full of fun to be had, and it’ll certainly eat up the time you’re spending before 4! Not to mention, it makes for a great family trip memory. There are two mini golf courses there and also a pretty extensive arcade, should you need to fill up a little more time.

Go to the Beach
Although you’ll probably want to do this quite a bit during your stay on Hilton Head Island, the beaches are bright, beautiful, and waiting for new occupants! During this time you could find where the perfect sunbathing spot is, set up your new chairs and towels and relax after a long day of traveling, or you could cool off and take a dip in the water before getting comfortable in your rental. Coligny Plaza Beach has outdoor showers and changing room facilities so you can wash off before getting back into your car.

Explore HHI - Check out Harbour Town
Yes, this is a great time to explore the area! While on your vacation, you don’t really want to waste time trying to find everything if you’re new to the area, and this poses a perfect opportunity to start mapping out your routes before spending a full day on Hilton Head Island. This will also give you a chance to meet some locals and ask about their favorite spots!
Harbour Town in Sea Pines is best known for the iconic lighthouse and large oak tree, huge marina with incredible boats, ice cream, and home to several fabulous restaurants. Check out the newly redesigned Quarterdeck or visit an old favorite like The Crazy Crab.

Go to Pinckney Island
If you are active and outdoorsy, consider a trip to Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge, which is located just over the first bridge onto Hilton Head. (If you've reached the second bridge, you have gone too far!) This incredible wildlife sanctuary is a haven for Lowcountry wildlife, birds and flowers. You can ride bikes or walk on the miles of trails.

Go to Hudson's Seafood
Hudson's Seafood is one of the oldest and best-known restaurants on Hilton Head. They do not take reservations and can be very crowded on weekend nights (On a Saturday or Sunday night, it is not uncommon to be quoted 2 hours or more for your party.) A great way to experience Hudson's is by visiting the iconic restaurant at an "off" time. 2 pm on a Friday is a great way to get a meal at Hudson's and likely not have to wait very long.

Get Your Groceries (just time it right!)
You’ll want to do this closer to 3 so your food doesn’t spoil, but picking out all of your household food for the time you’re here is smart especially when your rental isn’t ready just yet. Do these things before your relaxing stay starts, so you can enjoy all your time doing activities or relaxing by the water.
Killing time before your rental property is ready isn’t hard, and it really does give you the perfect opportunity to get ready for all the fun that is waiting for you on Hilton Head Island! After seeing all the things you could do beforehand, you may even choose to come a bit early so everything is ready to go during your stay.
