Workout Classes on Hilton Head Island

When visiting Hilton Head Island, many people like to keep up their fitness routine. Sure, you could run or walk on the beach, but the island is loaded with exciting workout options that are worth trying out. From pilates to yoga to franchise fitness, here’s where to work out on Hilton Head.
Local Kollective (formerly Cycle Bar)
Local Kollective is owned and operated by local resident, Katie Knowles, who was formerly a franchise owner of CycleBar. For years, CycleBar was a visitor staple for a quick and reliable spinning workout ranging from :30 minutes to longer rides. Today, Katie has kept the spinning classes but added so much more. Local Kollective not only offers cycling, but Hero Board classes, strength training, and has a recovery room with compression therapy. Locals love all of the pop-up classes on health and wellness, mindfulness, and the heavy emphasis on women’s health. You can buy a pack of classes and check out the studio, which has been completely renovated since it’s CycleBar days. Gone is the bright red heavy décor and in is a light, contemporary and earthy feel that feels like a breath of calm and wellness. Visit their website to learn more and schedule your classes online.
Orange Theory Fitness
Orange Theory Fitness is a national workout program with a studio right here in Hilton Head, near Port Royal Plantation in the Sea Turtle Plaza. OTF is a total-body, group workout that combines science, coaching, and technology to maximize results. Rooted in heart-rate-based interval training, every 60-minute session guides participants through three stations: treadmills, water rowers, and weight floors, to target different energy systems and muscle groups.Participants wear heart rate monitors during the workout, which project real-time data onto screens around the room. The goal is to spend at least 12 minutes in the "Orange Zone" (84% to 91% of your maximum heart rate) to trigger EPOC (Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption), often called the afterburn, allowing you to continue burning calories for up to 36 hours after the workout ends. Led by certified coaches and designed to be adaptable for all fitness levels, Orange Theory focuses on endurance, strength, and power to build functional overall fitness. We love the Hilton Head Island instructors, especially Chris, who has been teaching there for years. Be sure to book your classes well in advance. This is a popular spot with locals and books up early.
Jiva Yoga Center
Jiva Yoga Center is a premier studio on Hilton Head Island that is dedicated to cultivating mindfulness, physical strength, and a deep sense of community. Rooted in the philosophy that yoga is for everyone, Jiva provides a welcoming, non-intimidating sanctuary for both seasoned practitioners and complete beginners, whether they are lifelong locals or visitors looking to maintain their practice while on the island.
The studio offers an array of class styles tailored to different intentions and fitness levels. Guided by experienced, compassionate instructors, classes place a strong emphasis on breathwork, functional movement, and mental clarity, allowing students to build flexibility, mobility, and core strength while releasing stress. Jiva Yoga also serves as a holistic wellness hub, regularly hosting specialized workshops, sound baths, teacher trainings, and community events. Whether you are looking to ground yourself before a busy week, recover after a tough workout, or deepen your spiritual practice, Jiva Yoga Center offers a warm, mindful environment designed to help you reconnect with mind, body, and spirit.
Pure Barre Hilton Head
Pure Barre is also a national fitness chain and has a spot on Hilton Head Island at the Shelter Cove Center, right by Belk. If you aren’t familiar with it, Pure Barre is a full-body, high-intensity yet low-impact workout that utilizes a ballet barre, light weights, and resistance bands to sculpt and tone lean muscle. They have several types of classes, from their Classic to Empower (more cardio focused) to Strength (with heavier weights designed to build muscle, not just tone). Grounded in the principles of pilates, yoga, and ballet, each 45-to-50-minute class focuses on small, isometric movements designed to fatigue specific muscle groups, primarily targeting the core, thighs, glutes, and arms, followed by targeted stretching to increase flexibility and lengthen muscles. Don’t skip on the abs section…it’s powerful!
The music-driven, structured classes are fast-paced and mentally engaging. Pure Barre is accessible to most fitness levels, though we often see very fit and toned women at the Hilton Head studio. If you are a Pure Barre queen, you will fit right in at this studio.
