Dove Street Festival Of Lights Is One Of The Best Events In The State

Christmas is the most wonderful time of year, and every city has its own way of celebrating! In Hilton Head, we have a tradition known as the Dove Street Festival of Lights! This fun-filled Christmas party takes place nightly November 19th - December 31st and features holiday-themed entertainment with a display of the brightest and tackiest Christmas lights in the Deep South! It’s an ode to the holiday season that you don’t want to miss!

What to Expect at the Dove Street Festival of Lights

Taking place at Shelter Cove in Hilton Head, this festival is an island tradition that has been held annually for over 20 years! Hundreds of visitors from across the region flock to Dove Street for viewing the delightfully tacky exhibit of lights and to take part in the holiday festivities. Here are just a few of the activities you have to look forward to for this year’s event!

Dove Street Festival of Lights Fundraising History

Throughout the years, the festival has raised more than $120,000 in cash for local non-profit organizations, collected more than 40,000 cans of food for hungry local families, and donated 20,000 presents to underprivileged children. This year, the beneficiary organizations will be The Deep Well Project, PEP (Programs for Exceptional People), and Island Rec Center.

Deep Well Project: Founded in 1973, this organization serves the island community by assisting families with things as small as rent payment to larger projects like home repairs. Your donations will help the Deep Well Project continue in these endeavors as well as provide food for hungry families and clothes for children.

Programs for Exceptional People (PEP): Millions of adults live with intellectual disabilities. This non-profit organization aims to promote independence, social interaction, and employment for these adults. It is a community and a family for many, and strives to give those struggling with their disabilities the same opportunities that most people take for granted.

Island Rec Center: The Island Rec Center builds a community within the community by offering athletic programs, summer camps, aquatics, and employment opportunities. They also hold community events such as movie nights, food festivals, Daddy-Daughter dances, and more!
