Beaches

If your Spring Break plans don’t include a hefty amount of beach time, then are you really going on Spring Break? Beaches are in no shortage in Hilton Head. Check out Coligny Beach Park (it holds a 4.5/5 star rating on both Yelp and TripAdvisor – not too shabby, right?), or any of the other beautiful locations, like Alder and Folly Field beaches. The town’s official website has the beach information you’ll need, including access points and parking, all of which can be found here.

Surfing

Fans of the iconic beach sport will be pleased to know that they catch a few waves in Hilton Head. Although not a strong suit of the area’s beaches, you can still grab your board and test the waters. Check out this surf map first, and if you left your board in your dorm, visit Forest Beach Surf and Cycle and grab a rental.

Standup Paddle Boarding

If you’ve never been paddle boarding before, think of it as a cross between surfing and kayaking. Plenty of local business can get you out on the water in no time. Check out Forest Beach Surf and Cycle for paddle board rentals and tours!

Canoeing and Kayaking

If you love the water, but prefer a bit more stability than a board, head to Hilton Head Outfitters and rent a canoe or a kayak. Do want to give a classic pastime a shot while you’re paddling away? Kayak fishing is a favorite among locals, and OutsideHiltonHead.com will help guide you to a rewarding kayak fishing experience.

Hilton Head Heli Tours

Visiting Hilton Head Island is one thing, but seeing it while strapped in to the seat of a helicopter? That’s something worthy of your spring break. One ride with Hilton Head Heli Tours equals one unforgettable experience.

Golfing

Not the typical Spring Break activity, but by far of Hilton Head’s most popular attractions, the island’s golf courses give visitors a great alternative to the beach. World-class golfing at Harbour Town Golf Links (home of the RBC Heritage tournament) will place any golf enthusiast in 18-hole paradise. Bear Creek Golf Club and Old South Golf Links are just a couple more names on our lengthy list of great places to tee off. Check out our Hilton Head golf blog post for more details!

Biking

A welcomed activity by most anyone, there’s no better way to experience the entirety of Hilton Head Island than on two wheels. HiltonHeadIsland.org has maps, tips and more. Need a bike? Forest Beach Surf and Cycle is your connection to the best wheels on the island.

Gullah Museum of Hilton Head

If you aren’t from South Carolina, you might not be familiar with the state’s Gullah culture. Take a day off from the beach and visit the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head, where you can learn about the fascinating history of the area’s freed slaves, and the unique culture they built which still lives on to this day.

Shelter Cove Towne Center

Treat yourself to a nice dinner, a drink and bag full of beachwear at Shelter Cove Towne Center. Shops, restaurants, local events – you’ll find it when you visit all Shelter Cove. We even have a blog post to help you get the most out of your trip!
